Spiced Bramble Brandy

I went brambling last weekend and came back scratched, sore and bitten. Will I be doing it again next year? Damn right I will!

For my batch this year I wanted to try something new and happened upon this thread in the bushcraftuk forum: spiced blackberry brandy? This is an excellent forum and worth a look for anyone who finds my posts remotely interesting.

So, I made a batch of my own spiced bramble brandy. For each bottle I visually judged the amounts: 1/4 full of brambles, roughly the same amount of sugar in weight as the brambles, a 2 inch cinnamon stick, 3 cloves, pinch of allspice and of course all topped up with brandy. I use cheap spirits in these recipes, not the own-brand stuff (that's too cheap!) but the next one up.

I'll be opening this for Christmas and using it as one of my Christmas Hamper gifts. Alcohol always goes down well in the hampers!
